If you were born between these dates, you were born in a Wu-Chen year, the Year of the Dragon, and General Zhao Da watches over you.
(A new year starts on Lunar New Year’s Day.)
A mountain and a dragon
Wu is yang earth, a mountain that has not moved for a thousand years. Chen is the dragon, the time of spring thunder when the dragon rises from the deep. When mountain and dragon move together, they can shift the world.
General Zhao Da guards this year. People born in Wu-Chen years are often clever and good at finding the pattern in a mess, and also practical enough to turn their ideas into results.
Calm, clear eyes
He wears a dark green hat with a square red mark in the center and a dark green robe under a bright red cape. His arms are folded, and his face is calm.
When you meet his eyes, you feel that every thought in your head is already being counted.
The man who heard numbers
Zhao Da was a real person of the Three Kingdoms era who served Sun Quan, ruler of Wu, and was famous for numbers and divination. Many stories grew around him.
According to one, the court filled a barrel with millet and asked him how many grains were inside. He did not measure. He touched the barrel, listened to it, and named a number. They counted. It was exact. He is also said to have predicted eclipses and unusual signs in the sky months ahead.
Knowledge that needs a good heart
He wrote everything he knew into one book but would not teach it to just anyone. He believed that in the wrong hands, this kind of knowledge could do great harm. Heaven valued his care and named him the Tai Sui of the Wu-Chen year.
A green hat on his head and a mind that plans far ahead: that is his gift to everyone born in the Year of the Dragon.
